I'm a front end engineer with an appreciation for thoughtful design.
I love to craft beautiful, functional interfaces by taking difficult concepts and finding ways to make them simple and understandable for all users.
I have several years of experience working with various languages and frameworks. While my main interests are in front end development and UX, I'm comfortable with back end development too. I also have experience managing a team.
Keeping up with the latest trends in programming and web development is important to me. I also contribute to open source projects and blog about engineering when I can.
August 2013 to present
I've made significant contributions to many of Ensighten's products, working with people across multiple departments to turn complex ideas into simple, coherent interfaces.
Recently I led an initiative to unify Ensighten's disparate UIs into something more consistent. This entailed working with designers, creating a living style guide with code samples, evangelising the project to other teams, as well as writing maintainable, well-structured code that could easily be adopted by others.
I also created the front and back end for a new product. This involved creating a Java based REST API, as well as an AngularJS front end. As part of this, I've gained experience in managing a team and DevOps.
July 2011 to August 2013
I was also the sole developer of an invoicing and billing platform, which entailed handling every aspect of the project, including database creation, back end code, design and implementation of the front end, as well as integrating with legacy systems.
I also ran the effort to modernise an acquisition, a web based forum system. This involved a substantial redesign, a brand new instant notification system and a new digest service for users.
I was also involved with interviewing, press releases and liaising with customers.
